My name is Annemarie and I founded Weissnaehen in November 2026. I love sewing and have been making my own clothes and some for friends and familly since my early 20's. During my journey my counciousness of nature has grown more and more, so I sadly had to reduce my output. However, slowing down forced me to focus more on quality and made me enjoy the process much more. 

I soon became interested in historical garments and hand-sewing. In 2021 I stumbled upon an old garment-making-book, called "Weißnähen" in a 2nd-hand-bookstore. It originally belonged to the "Frauenarbeitsschule Reutlingen" - a school for women, that taught them sewing both for domestic as well as for professional use. I learned, that in the 2nd half of the 19th century, many women in that area earned a living by sewing from home. Once I figured out the cryptic instructions in old writing, I was completely hooked. (Originally, my plan was to create modern pdf-sewing patterns from them. In case someone would be interested in that please let me know - I might come back to it.)

Now I chose to create this project for the love of making things, to have a space were I can play, design, create and share. It is close to my heart and brings me joy. I make everything here in my small home studio in Hessen, the south of Germany. I really try to trust my instincts the whole time, so each garment is one of a kind.
